One reply on “Weekend Mega Linkfest: 24 April, 2020”
Have been reading the Hindu post on J Mathrubootham. Today, I wondered what is the meaning of this word. Why will Mathrubootham parents give such a weird name to their child?
At first thought, Bhoot means ghost…So I wondered, Does the name mean Ghost of mother ( since Mathru means mother). Then, I realised it must be Sanskrit. Bhoota in Sanskrit means “Born out of “. So, simply, Mathrubootham means “Born out of mother”. Which we all are.. technically speaking… So you are a Mathru bhootham. I am too…
But the spelling should be Bhootham not Bootham….aka ghost….
