Chennai Express-Lungi Dance

Saw Chennai Express in a single screen cinema. It was housefull with the crowd consisted primarily of people from Dharavi,India’s largest slum whose populace is largely Tamil speaking.

Amazed at the way crowds reacted to the movie.I guess one does not know India without watching its people react to movies !I am told Bhag Milkha Bhag touched a huge emotional chord amongst the people of the Punjab.

While my wife had a splitting headache from the movie,I enjoyed its mindless (and harmless) banter. For some reason, can’t get this tune out of this head….this happens when you have hundreds of people shouting Thalaiva !!

Why BCCI reminds me of Casablanca

BCCI conducted an investigation into the various shenanigans of its IPL and gave a clean chit to all the owners and powerful bosses who run it.

It’s difficult not be cynical about the whole exercise and the sheer chutzpah reminds me of this great scene “Round up the usual suspects” from Casablanca.

You are not my partner

One of the best movies I saw this year was the movie “Arbitrage”.

The story is superb and the performances by the cast (esp Richard Gere) is crackling.

Just love some of the dialogues in the movie:

“You are not my partner. You work for me” ( a father to his daughter)

“There is a thin line between getting rich and getting caught ”
