What am I missing? The fund has bettered the category average for every period except for 3years. Even the returns since launch have outperformed the category. Evey fund has some good and bad times, so why single out this one?
Motilal Oswal Midcap 30 fund did not deliver in the 3yr period. But the line “Yet our Mutual Funds can’t beat Fixed Deposits in returns” is a bit exaggeration and not true. There are many more funds(10+) in the same category that gave 10%+ to 14%+ return.
It is actually surprising that the return of lesser periods, say, 1 month to 1 year is better than the benchmark (whereas most of the mid cap funds have faltered here because of sudden bad market conditions) and return of 3 years is worse than the benchmark. One needs to go into details of this.
I also agree with the reply mentioned above. MO never said that they will beat FD returns in every time slab viz. 1,3,6,12 months/ 2,3 years.
MF by its very nature suitable/ beneficial over a time slab of 3/5 or longer period. Those who are so concerned about the assured returns may still stick to bank FDs. Only they will have to be contented with 5-9% returns even with 3/5/7/10 years slabs
Agree entirely with responses.. people with FD mindset need to stick to Fd,s and quabble over 25 basis points.. the other way around this is .. is there a structural deficiency in their portfolio composition which will keep them an underperforming find in future ???
