That was a nice read. For the amateur investor who doesn’t have access to many of the ‘tips’ bundled in that article; what ways/tools can we use to un-earth value picks/turn-around stories?

Of course one of the obvious ones is your newsletter 😉 thanks for that! But what else?

There is no easy way to do this-an ordinary investor will not have the time to meet managements, research companies etc and nor will he have the skills to analyze balance sheets/p&l etc.He is better off going for passive investing

Agreed its probably too much for a single individual.

I was wondering for the sort of people that subscribe to your newsletter; that may be the source for a vibrant community of collaborative stock miners; I’m sure you’ve considered creating a closed group ecosystem like that? thoughts?

There are quite a few message boards/groups etc.Moderating such a group requires a commitment of time and energy which I unfortunately don’t have.

Two things that I’ve noticed over and over again when studying the investors who have outperformed (Pabrai, Buffett, Schloss, Graham, Greenblatt, etc…):
• They were very concentrated Eg. Buffet (they did extensive research and bought big positions), or……………….
• They were diversified, but they bought stocks that no one else wanted Eg. Schloss, (Templeton when bought 100 Penny Stocks) (they were far less concerned about understanding the intricacies of the business, and more concerned with valuation and numbers)
Am I wrong?
