  1. Bank overdraft are combined with cash balances in the balance sheet. So a bank overdraft which is a negative figure may be more than cash, hence negative.

  2. In all probability, it would “cash and cash equivalent” or “cash and Bank balances” which could be negative also because of “overdrawn” bank limits or advances taken against FDs or some other forms of cash equivalents.
    Nothing great alarms in this. Why are we raising such non-issues and blow it out of proportions simply because we don’t understand the nuances of a business balance sheet.
